Rock Manor Golf Course

Wilmington, DE

The Rock Manor Golf Course, one of the oldest Municipal golf courses in the US, founded in 1922, is a portion of the much larger 400 million “Blue Ball” initiative which involves federal, state and local Departments of Transportation, Corps of Engineers (DNREC, DELDOT, NCCD) and other agencies to enhance the entire interchange of Rt. 202 and I-95. The Blue Ball Project included 400 million dollars worth of road improvements. We completely redesigned Rock Manor Golf Course, which had been sliced and diced over the years because of road construction. We lengthened the course from 5,779 yards to 6400 yards, made possible by the addition of a few small parcels of land. We designed all new tees, greens, bunkers and fairways. The irrigation was redesigned. In addition to completely re-routing and rebuilding the golf course, we had to incorporate three road intersections (tunnels), a flood attenuation project, 3 public utilities projects, the Delaware Greenway Trail, an underground drinking water supply, and two parks and recreation projects. There will be a range of fees when the course re-opens and rounds are sure to surge.
